There have been a number of questions about face coverings, season cancellations, etc.
Q: What if the season cancels, will there be a refund?
A: If the season ends prior to 12/15, a refund of 2/3 of payment will be refunded. If the season ends after 12/15, but prior to 2/15, a 1/3 refund will be issued. No refund will be issued if the season is ongoing after 2/15.
Q: Will my player, with or without a health condition be required to wear a face covering
A: Currently yes, the State of Michigan and the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association both require all on-ice players, coaches, and referees to have facial coverings. While this may change this is the current policy.
Guidance on what facial coverings are acceptable is provided by MAHA on their website.
“If a cloth face covering cannot be tolerated while engaging in athletic activity, a plastic face shield covering the mouth and nose would also be acceptable.”
That said, there are specifics about what is acceptable, please review the entire maha standards at: the revised MAHA Return to Play Standards
Registration continues and it is essential that people get their players registered as soon as possible. We plan on a regular start to the season around 10/15.

All, as you may have heard the 2020-2021 Calumet Hockey Association season will see several changes related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Gretchen Whitmer's executive orders and guidance by the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association (MAHA).
While there are many requirements for safe return to play, the primary effects of these factors have resulted in changes on the ground to our hockey program:
• All associations should designate a person or group, to serve as a liaison with your ice rink facility, as well as notifying all applicable parties if a positive test is confirmed
• All teams should designate a person who will be responsible for responding to COVID-19 concerns
• Notify any teams or players that shared ice sessions with the infected player over the previous 14 days
• Teams should not be penalized for forfeiting games due to COVID-19 concerns
• Do not use benches during practice sessions
• Players need to maintain 6 feet of separation whenever possible during practices
• Coaches and players shall wear facial coverings at all times during on-ice practices
We recognize that our parents and players may see difficulty in compliance with these requirements by the State and MAHA, but they are requirements. We are asking for patience and positivity as much as possible as we deal with these difficult challenges. For more information please see:
Please (one per Family) take the participation survey prior to 9/18 at:

The Calumet Hockey Association and Calumet Township have launched a major phase of the capital campaign for infrastructure improvements to the Calumet Colosseum. We are seeking matching funds for a $90,000 Michigan DNR Recreation Passport Grant that will allow for installation of new boards and glass. You can show your support by sponsoring a section of the boards or making a general contribution. More information is available in the attachments below.
Please contact any hockey board member to find out what sections remain available for sponsorship.
Thanks for your support in keeping youth hockey as affordable as possible and continuing the Calumet Hockey tradition.
Congratulations to the Auto Pro Bantam B State Champs.
The team went undefeated in the tournament which was played in Hancock this past weekend, and won the championship in convincing fashion 7-1 over Alpena.
The team played an unselfish brand of hockey that was fun to watch. The HoCo was packed with Calumet people cheering on the champs.
