The Calumet Wolverines and Portage Lake Pioneers rivalry isn’t over for 2013 just yet. The two Copper Country Great Lakes Hockey League teams will meet Saturday at noon EST in both team’s final round robin game.

The Pioneers earned the top seed in the tournament with a 17-3-0 record in the regular season, while the Wolverines 10-9-1 record was good for sixth place. The two teams are in a tournament division with the 2012 tournament champion Fond du Lac Bears, who earned the ninth and final seed with an 8-12-0 record.

The Wolverines play the Bears Friday night at 7 p.m. EST, while the Pioneers play the Bears Friday at 12:30 p.m. All three games will be played in the “cube” rink in Eagle River.

After the three teams battle it out, one or two of them will earn a spot in the semifinals, which will be at either 7 p.m. or 9:30 p.m. EST in the main Eagle River arena. One of the three teams is guaranteed a spot in the semis, but the second spot is dependent on how the other six teams in the tournament do.
